Keberadaan dan Tantangan: Transgender di Jambi 2014-2023

Abstrak

This research describes the lives, roles and challenges faced by transgender people in the city of Jambi from 2014 to 2023. Using historical methods, this research involves heuristics, source criticism, interpretation and historiography. The background is the social, cultural and political transformation in Jambi, where the transgender community still often faces stigma, discrimination and violence despite progress in recognizing gender identity. Transgender resistance in the media and community activities in Jambi reflects this situation. Local factors such as socio-political conditions, the role of mass media, and government policies regarding LGBT rights have a significant impact on the daily lives of transgender people. This research aims to fill knowledge gaps and provide comprehensive insight into the dynamics that influence the lives of the transgender community in Jambi, as well as exploring how they deal with stereotypes and stigma in various media and in social life.
